Unpolished Recap

On Thursday, September 17 and Friday, September 18, the Living Room ventured off site to Crossroads Church to collaborate with Unpolished, a grassroots effort started by entrepreneurs to engage, educate and grow one another’s businesses.

They asked us to be a part of providing a unique workspace for attendees, and needless to say (but we will anyway), it was awesome.

We transformed a simple meeting space the same way we do in our very own building: comfortable, modern, fresh. It was a booth that wasn’t. It was a place for people to be people. A place where people don’t feel like they have to sacrifice who they are when they walk through the doors. At Unpolished, they could bring it with them.

Businesspersons, teachers, leaders, entrepreneurs, and creators from near and far came together to share insight, powerful stories, and meaningful conversation with one another. We watched as old friends reconnected and new friends were made, and saw businesses genuinely caring for the improvement of other businesses.

We used thoughtful details to bring together a space that would fit Crossroad’s already modern, rustic theme, while bringing in pieces of ourselves to create a unique experience for attendees.

Our designer Jessica Copp thoughtfully put together floor plans including images of furniture for the workspace Unpolished was looking for. Once they decided on a layout, she then put together an environment conducive to what they wanted while putting together a variety of every Living Room space in one.

“I wanted to give people a taste of what Living Room is and what they can experience in our own space,” Jess explained. “It was a look-feel for us by taking LR to them.”

And the Living Room did exactly that.

Jess creatively organized significant elements from our space, including our warm, wood tones, colors of dark grey, white, and blood orange, air plants, exposed hanging bulbs, and a chalkboard wall featuring tangible polaroids of our spaces under their handwritten titles.

We watched as LR’s couches filled armrest to armrest with people who personally engaged with one another. Whether it was lighthearted conversation filled with belly laughs, or stories involving the intimate details of their lives, every bit of it held a purpose.

Meaningful moments –that’s what the Living Room is all about. We were proud to be a part of contributing to Unpolished’s overall mission to bring people together, and are looking forward to watching our community grow one moment and a time.
